It is a wonderful trick in photography when you find a spot that will consistenly deliver decent photos throughout the year, giving a time-lapse view of how seasons change, from autumn, to winter, to spring and summer. The spot just upstream from the Žirmūnai bridge over the river Neris is just such a place, and now that the deep freeze in Vilnius has set in, the river has frozen over into a jagged still-frame of the normal swirls and eddies. The temperature also makes for a permanent haze over the city, washing out the church towers and buildings only a kilometer or so away into just a blue-tinted silhouette.
