Belmontas manor

Belmontas is best known for its lovingly restored water mill, which has been converted into a restaurant and wedding venue. But just upstream is the equally well-tended old mansion. It overlooks the ponds that were dug out to ensure a steady supply of water for the mill and the cannon foundry, that once supplied the Swedish, Russian and Napoleonic armies with artillery pieces, fed by a spring in the sandy hills above. It has a wonderfully manicured garden and lawn, but by the looks of it is a private residence these days rather than a public venue. Still, it sits very pretty in the verdant landscape.
