Honey, somehow, manages to capture the “localness” of a place like few other products. A carrot is a carrot, but honey is the concentrated essence of a place. Exploring honey flavours is therefore always a treat. But this was a particular twist in the honey exploration globetrotting that was not expected – honey infused with glorious spices, fruits and berries. Blackberry honey, raspberry honey, cranberry honey, vanilla honey… Not only did they taste lovely, but the Raseiniai-based company that makes it, Šerkšno medus, clearly has an eye for jar design as well and caught my eye among all the other honey vendors on Gedimino Prospektas during the Vilnius city festival. In the end, I settled for a large jar of “creamy” honey without any of the fancy additives, which had just the aroma of Lithuanian countryside I was hoping for.
I LOVE honey and these special types sound soo delicious! Unfortunately we are travelling only with a hand luggage, so I can´t buy them in the city because of the airport liquid limits. Do you happen to know if they sell some at the airport and if it´s not too overpriced?

Good question! I haven’t checked, but there are some nice shops in the airport that sell Lithuanian delicacies, so I would think there’s a good chance that this particular honey is there, but I don’t know for sure. You can always keep an eye on the list of retailers on their website for updates. http://serksnomedus.lt/en/kur-isigyti/
